Remicade. Understanding IBD at an early age
Challenge
When you’re a kid, life can be pretty confusing.
But when you’re diagnosed with something like IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease), everything gets even more complicated. The life-long condition is hard to live with, and while IBD treatments like Remicade can really help, the treatment requires regular trips to hospital for infusions.
Janssen-Cilag, makers of Remicade, realised that the majority of patient materials were created for an adult audience, and there were very few resources aimed to help their younger patients understand their condition, as well as all the 'whats, whys and hows' around treatment with Remicade.
Outcome
Much care was taken to create materials that would convey complex information in a relatable and engaging way (with a bit of fun to boot). Both Janssen and TAPS understood the challenges of relating to this audience, and both worked hard to ensure the delicate balance between medical fact and kid-friendly language remained intact.
Our 20-page booklet was lovingly illustrated by INSIGHT designer, Rochelle, who also created the bespoke handmade fonts that brought warmth and fun to some quite frightening information.
